Pakistani Bun Kababs Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. (450 g) lean ground chicken
  • 12 Ritz Crackers, finely crushed (about 1/3 cup)
  • 1/4 cup shredded double-cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp. dried fenugreek leaves
  • 1 tsp. garam masala
  • 1 tsp. ground coriander
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. ground fennel
  • 1/2 tsp. red chili powder or cayenne pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 4 process cheese slices
  • 4 whole wheat hamburger buns
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 thin red onion slices
  • 1 tomato, cut into 4 slices

Instructions

  • Heat  barbecue to medium-high heat.
  • Mix  chicken, cracker crumbs, shredded cheese, seasonings and egg until well blended; shape into 4 (1/2-inch-thick) patties.
  • Grill  7 to 8 min. on each side or until done (160ºF), topping with cheese slice for the last minute.
  • Fill  buns with lettuce, kabab patties, onions and tomatoes.

Recipe Tips

Special ExtraFor added flavour, spread bottom half of each bun with 1 tsp. each mint chutney and tamarind chutney before topping with remaining ingredients as directed.

SubstitutePrepare using ground beef or lamb.
